The Ueno Royal Museum

An art museum with a wide variety of special exhibitions dealing with a wide range of works of art

The Ueno Royal Museum is the only private museum in Ueno Park managed by the Japan Art Association, the oldest art association in Japan, established in 1879. The museum opened April 1972 as a part of renovation of the art exhibition hall owned by the association. Since them, the museum has played an active role and hosted many kinds of exhibitions, from fine arts to Manga works.
